Openness first changes deployment choice
Tencent Hunyuan publishes HunyuanVideo 1.5 weights, inference code and common workflow integrations, allowing teams to test and compose tools in their own environments. Alibaba Cloud presents Wan2.2-S2V around performance video driven by a character image and audio. The two do not serve exactly the same production step.
Production evaluation must return to project inputs
Official repositories and release pages can confirm capability scope, but they cannot replace project tests. Character consistency, lip sync, long-audio stability, camera motion, memory use and revision time need to be recorded on fixed hardware, versions and assets before results can be compared.
Open models require stronger version discipline
Self-deployment creates control while transferring responsibility for environments, dependencies, weights, nodes and security to the team. Every final shot should trace back to a model version, workflow file, input hash and post-production chain; otherwise reproducibility remains theoretical.
The value of an open model is control over testing and deployment—not automatic production certainty.
