Creative agents are becoming AI media's control plane; the scarce resource is recoverable context

Runway MCP and Adobe Firefly Studio connect generation, editing, character assets and project memory to agent entry points, forcing teams to redefine portability and audit responsibility.

Runway launched an MCP service in May that lets compatible agents call image and video generation from conversational or coding environments, including access to several third-party models. Adobe's June Firefly AI Assistant and updated Studio connect brand assets, short video, storyboards, Quick Cut, reusable Elements and Projects inside persistent context.

EDITORIAL THESIS

The more an agent can operate tools for you, the more independently a project must retain facts, permissions, versions and rollback paths.

01 · REPORTED

Model access is moving from toolbars to conversations and protocols

The products differ, but both move creation from opening one model page toward agent orchestration of several actions. Models still matter; project memory, asset permissions, action logs and recoverable versions increasingly determine whether the system can support serial production.

02 · ANALYSIS

Convenient connection amplifies errors and permissions

When an agent can generate and edit from a product link, reference or brief, one error can propagate through several steps. An obsolete character design, unlicensed voice or wrong language version can be reused across an entire asset set.

An intelligence profile therefore needs more than a list of supported models. It should record which assets an agent can access, whether it writes to an external service, where outputs live, whether actions can be reconstructed and how a user revokes the connection.

03 · FIELD NOTE

Build a portable creative control plane

Projects should retain canonical characters, glossary, shot list, rights matrix, generation job IDs, selection rationale and master hashes outside any one platform. An agent can read controlled copies and submit candidates, but cannot become the sole store of production truth.

Every new tool profile should add four fields: where context comes from, where actions write, how failures roll back and what can be exported when platforms change. That turns an intelligence library from a brand directory into a production decision system.
