Disney+ announced a global distribution agreement with The Pokémon Company International on 28 August. Aardman's stop-motion series Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu is due in 2027 on Disney XD and exclusively on Disney+ for streaming. Classic animation Pokémon the Series: The Beginning is already on Disney+ in the United States and selected international markets, and airs on Disney XD. The release also names Aardman's director, IP-development creative lead and model-making lead.
For animation and short-drama teams, the signal is not simply another major IP arriving on another service. The platform is programming one brand on two clocks: a classic series supplies familiarity and immediate access, while Aardman's model-making, stop-motion performance and comedy create a 2027 event. A local IP using the same structure would need separate rights rows for catalog restoration, tracks and captions, new production, linear broadcast, streaming exclusivity, promotional clips and derivatives. A single label of global partnership can otherwise hide several distinct windows.
The agreement discloses no price, term, complete territory list, number of classic seasons, or episode count and duration for the new work. Global describes the intended new-series agreement; it does not mean the classic series is currently playable in every market. Teams evaluating the channel should capture title pages, dates, language options and device status in each target territory, and wait for further production and scheduling detail ahead of 2027.
